Redbud ist ein langsamer Züchter, der eine Höhe von 35 bis 75 Fuß erreicht. Die purpurnen rosa Blüten erscheinen in der letzten Aprilwoche bis zur ersten oder zweiten Maiwoche auf dem ganzen Baum. Junge Bäume sind am einfachsten zu verpflanzen und überleben am besten, wenn sie im Frühjahr gepflanzt werden. Redbud hat eine unregelmäßige Wuchsform, gelbe Herbstfarbe und ist schattentolerant.
