Chinesische Kastanie erreicht eine Höhe und Ausbreitung von 30 bis 40 Fuß in einer sonnigen Exposition und einem gut durchlässigen Boden. Der Baum ist nicht zum Beschneiden tolerant und ist schwer zu verpflanzen. Das wichtigste ornamentale Merkmal ist gelblich weiße Kätzchen im Frühsommer.
